Every student has a story to tell.
Here’s Ours.
Two Core Pillars, One Philosophy
At Ellipsis Writing, we believe that great storytelling—whether in a poem, a college essay, or a personal statement—has the power to change lives.
Ellipsis is built on two core offerings: Creative Writing Tutoring and College Advising. Each program functions independently, with its own methods, goals, and instructor teams. But they are united by a single driving belief: every student’s voice is unique, and every student deserves individualized support to develop and share that voice on their own terms.
Since our founding in 2019, we’ve worked with hundreds of students around the world, helping them discover their voices, sharpen their craft, and build the confidence to tell their stories with clarity, purpose, and heart. What began as Peter LaBerge’s passion project quickly grew into a dual-service platform designed to meet students where they are—and to help them reach beyond their wildest artistic and professional dreams.
College Advising
Our college advising services focus on the power of narrative—helping students approach the college admissions process not with fear or formula, but with a deep sense of authorship and authenticity.
We offer one-on-one essay coaching, school-specific supplement strategy, college list development, and holistic college admissions planning.
In each session, students engage in focused, individualized work. They brainstorm and draft personal statements; discuss adjustments and pivots to their college-facing narrative arcs; receive detailed line-by-line feedback on Common App essays; and refine supplements to reflect the specific ethos and values of each school. Our advisors help students strategize their timelines, identify compelling thematic arcs, and elevate their essays from competent to stand-out. The result is not only a polished application, but a body of writing that genuinely reflects the student behind it.
Students work with experienced advisors who have helped applicants gain admission to top-tier universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, UChicago, Columbia, and more. But we’re not one for templates. Instead, we ask questions, listen closely, and help students articulate stories that reflect not what admissions officers are used to hearing—but rather who they truly are.
Creative Writing Instruction
Looking for creative writing tutoring? Look no further.
Ellipsis pairs students one-on-one with award-winning authors and editors. These are not group classes or static curriculum tracks—they’re deeply tailored, generative partnerships designed to meet students at any stage of the writing process.
In each session, students engage in a wide range of inspiring work. They draft and revise new poems, stories, or essays; read and discuss contemporary craft texts; analyze published works; and strategize for upcoming writing contests and summer writing programs. Many students also work closely with instructors to refine submission materials for top-tier publications. Whether students come in with a specific project or simply a desire to grow as writers, each meeting is student-focused—anchored by the belief that writing is as much about inquiry as it is about expression.
Students work on poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, hybrid forms, and contest portfolios. Some are preparing for Scholastic or YoungArts; others are publishing in literary journals or applying to programs and literary internships; most are doing both! Every session is shaped by the student’s goals and voice, and guided by a mentor who has walked the literary path before them.
“Writing with Ellipsis the past two years has been a totally game-changing experience. I don’t recognize the writer I was before. My resume is stronger than I ever thought it could be, and my toolkit is polished. I’m so ready for the next chapter.”
