Tuition Assistance

No student should be priced out of life-changing mentorship

Ellipsis was built to widen access to the kind of one-on-one writing and college mentorship that has historically been reserved for families who could afford it. Our tuition assistance program helps us keep that promise.

Financial aid at Ellipsis

Partial scholarships, evaluated case by case

Ellipsis offers partial tuition scholarships to qualifying students across all of our one-on-one programs — Creative Writing tutoring, College Advising, and our summer programming. We are not currently able to offer full scholarships.

The size of each scholarship varies. We evaluate every application individually, taking into account financial circumstances, the student's writing or academic profile, and our in-season aid capacity. Some scholarships cover a significant percentage of tuition; others cover a smaller portion. We do our best to make each offer one that makes quality instruction and mentorship possible.

Three-step process

Applying for financial aid with Ellipsis

Step 01

Submit the application form. (See below!)

Tell us a little about your student and what they're hoping to accomplish with an Ellipsis instructor or advisor, as well as which financial need indicator(s) apply. The form should take approximately ten minutes to complete.

Step 02

We review your application and respond.

Most applicants hear back within two weeks. If we have current capacity, we'll move forward with a consultation. If we don't, we'll add you to our scholarship waitlist with as clear a sense of timing as we can provide.

Step 03

Begin your engagement.

Approved families receive a tailored scholarship offer alongside instructor matches, and we move into the standard onboarding process from there.

Eligibility

Do I qualify for aid with Ellipsis?

Ellipsis uses the Common Application's standard list of financial need indicators. Most students who qualify for tuition assistance meet at least one of the following:

  • The student has received or is eligible to receive an ACT or SAT testing fee waiver.
  • The student is enrolled in or eligible to participate in the Federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch Program (FRPL).
  • The family's annual income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service.
  • The student is enrolled in a federal, state, or local program serving low-income families — including TRIO programs such as Upward Bound.
  • The family receives public assistance.
  • The student lives in federally subsidized public housing, a foster home, or is experiencing homelessness.
  • The student is a ward of the state or an orphan.

What you share stays with us. Information submitted in your application is used only to evaluate your scholarship request. It does not affect how we work with your student, who they're matched with, or anything else about the engagement.
